Maureen McLaughlin, LA.c., MSOM

Maureen holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgetown University. In 1997, she graduated from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine (MCOM) at the top of her class with a Master’s Level Degree in Acupuncture. Couples struggling to conceive began presenting in her private practice (first in Oak Park then later in Grayslake, IL) and with her treatments, there was great success. In 2002, she began doing a pre-and post- embryo transfer protocol for infertility patients in the Chicago area with the Clinic, IVF1. Women (and men) would come for treatments during the course of their IUI or IVF cycle to help attain the best possible outcome, and she administered acupuncture on-site day of embryo transfer too. She went on to become Chief Acupuncturist for Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago (2009-Present) seeing patients privately and on-site for embryo transfer day. Helping women and couples realize their dream of a baby is one of her deepest joys in life. In 2022 Maureen graduated Magna Cum Laude and earned her Master’s in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) and a Bachelor’s in Nutrition adding chinese herbal medicine, western supplements, and food therapy to her repertoire!

 

Maureen is certified in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture (also known as facial rejuvenation). She became an Acupuncturist Without Borders in 2016 to provide acupuncture treatments for PTSD in the field during natural and man-made disasters and is also an experienced Community Acupuncturist (group acupuncture). She has many years of clinical experience in the application of acupuncture and chinese medicine during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum and holds a special certification in Obstetrical Acupuncture (OBAA). Maureen also treats other conditions acupuncture is known to be helpful for such as Pain (of any origin), Upper Respiratory, Digestive, Post-Surgical, Immunological, Neurological, and Menopausal (to name a few). She keeps up with Continuing Ed courses in those areas so that she is a well-rounded practitioner who can address both acute and chronic health concerns.
